If you care to, this will probably date him to the right decade data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I'd love to know where he lives in order to see people riding the clutch and rocking their vehicles almost every day though data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

If you're sat at traffic lights in neutral, you have to be pretty speedy when it comes to reacting to lights going green, adding a bit of "gas" and then finding bite; I take it it's something that comes with experience?

you've got time
don't forget the lights go through amber before the get to green and if your a couple cars back from the lights there's plenty of time before you need to set off
use your handbrake and finding the biting point is a lot easier

The process of it, as a learner, is much slower though:
Clutch down, into first, add gas, find bite, release handbreak, go
As opposed to
Find bite, swivel foot to gas, go
Again, as a learner, it takes that much longer to do the first process, and it's quite daunting doing it every time, especially if you get caught out by the lights changing to green as you begin to go into neutral etc
I'm confident it's a better approach all-round, but the lazy part of me often can't be bothered data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 (unless on a hill of course)

Soon enough it becomes a single smooth operation. I’m actually surprised it isn’t already if you passed the test. I’m no examiner but in my days they wouldn’t let me wait at the lights unless I was in neutral. It’s basic car handling.

You can easily wear a clutch out in 9000 miles, the old girl next to my parents went through 4 of them in her first year, the garage eventually got her to change to an auto.
