That doesn't sound right. Having owned multiple fords with quickclear, I'm not sure I ever had one where filaments were not inside the glass itself.

Heated rear screens have the tracks silk screen printed on the inside, and they can sometimes be repaired.But there is no way you could run a line of tape or metallic paint down the inside of the front windscreen.It would be an instant MOT failure, surely?

The wires are embedded in the laminated layers, but rarely fail. It tends to be where they exit and are terminated that fails. Worth checking if the connector has come adrift.

Rear screen you can run a conductive pen/paint easily enough, but it's probably temporary.

Equivalent fix at the front isn't possible as above. I think the person above (duff) has confused front and rear screens perhaps.

As noiseboy says, usually at termination - and there are two in modern fords (older ones had only one), hence the complaints of half a screen not working in many cases.
