Problem with low mileage and diesels is having to babysit the DPF.
Given the low mileage a 2l petrol turbo should be considered.
Will do, dont really know why i always have driven a diesel, just habit really, will have a look at petrol turbos.
I know there are more sensible options for me but i just always loved and wanted a decent Audi, not i can i think i might just do it, like all my buying / shopping etc i can be easily talked out of something as i am useless when it comes to biting the bullet on buys, especially in an area im not totally sure about, if i know what im talking about and know what i want, ill buy it straight away.
I agree with the comments above.Avoid diesel if you're doing under 10k a year.
The fuel saving will be insignificant.
I think there’s even a 1.4 turbo in the A4. If memory serves me well it put out 140-150bhp and decent enough torque.
Years ago turbo petrols were very rare and prone to overheating, and not very efficient. It’s all moved on significantly. Diesel always had the perception of being better but obviously Dieselgate and the progress with petrol engines has helped to change things.
More and more ranges being released without diesel now.
I’ve had 3 Audi TDI models (A4 2.0 170ps, A5 2.0 177ps, and currently an A4 3.0 272ps) since 2011 and in that time have had an average mileage of 6500 with no DPF issues.
Low mileage isn’t an issue, lots of short journeys is. Just make sure and give it a good blast once in a while
I’m sure the 190ps engine would be very nice to drive, I wouldn’t go for the lower power models of an A4.

Yeah, it's madness. We're supposed to be dealing with climate change, ditching greener diesels in favour of more polluting petrols is absurd.
Diesels are fine with 8k a year unless you spend all of it crawling along in traffic.
Anyway, what attracts you to the Audi? The corporate look?

Good question and the answer is I really don’t know, from a very young age I’ve liked them and always wanted to own a decent one.
Funny I saw one online I really liked before I left work and 30 mins later met a friend who is home for the weekend, he has a hire car and of course it was almost the exact same car and it was some wagon, I loved it.
Now saying all that and this is what I do, after reading the comments on here and elsewhere I’m starting to rethink on an Audi, I can afford to buy the car but do I need the added exspense of maybe higher insurance, very high parts price if something does go wrong etc etc.
Not ruling the Audi out but back to the drawing board me thinks and a lot more reading etc to be done.
If you buy one still in warranty that will help with costs. I don’t know about Audi but with BMW you can extend the manufacturer’s warranty. Costs aren’t too bad at all but will depend on car / mileage of car.
