The writing is on the wall data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Naturally that city has decent alternative infrastructure with excellent public transport (Tram, Metro), cycling is common as well, and many water ways for inner transport.
I like it! As Netherlands is transport capital of the world, government will probably invest in haulage industry to switch to electric traction, rather than sponging money from it. My wife and I had a discussion about it as well, and along the lines of why London doesn't have big P&R areas outside the centre. In Amsterdam I paid something like €26 for 4 nights in a secure and manned place. Then took Metro/Tram to where I needed to go. In London you can't even park for 6 hours for that kind of money. I have used the Bath park and ride, it is a terrible place to get into by car. Stratford not so bad and Cardiff. But the latter was quicker to walk back to that use the bus after a concert. As already mentioned, the land prices are mental around London and I hope that if such does happen then the transport in and pricing is good.
Usually though (no longer working and not having to deal with the big smoke), I get the train to London and the costs for GWR are just too much. Would that increase the short notice visits and increase traffic to the park and rides? (costs obviously dependent).
