I've just gone from selling Nissans to Peugeot. The new Qashqai is a good car, and I made a lot of money from selling it. The Peugeot 3008 was never a car that I considered to be a "competitor" to the Qashqai, it was never even on the radar.
But the new 3008 is something else. It's styling is spot on, it's comfort is spot on, and the dashboard, whilst still retaining some Peugeot "quirkiness" is much easier to find your way around than the old model. I still struggle with that on the second hand ones we have on the forecourt!
We have the new 5008 coming out in a few months too.
A bigger, 7 seat version of the 3008 to compete head on with the new Nissan X-Trail, amongst others.
I've just sold a new 3008 to a really nice couple, husband describes himself as a "bit of a perfectionist" and admitted that when his wife had told him she had seen a Peugeot that she loved the look of he didn't take her seriously. Came down and had a closer look, took a decent test drive and ordered there and then. He has fallen in love with it.
They are a little bit more expensive than the Qashqai with regards their starting prices, but are better equipped lower down in the range, so it's swings and roundabouts really.
The 1.2TP engine in the Qashqai was plenty good enough, the same sized engine in the 3008 has about 20 more horses so whilst I haven't driven one, (still waiting for a petrol demonstrator!) I would imagine it will hustle along quite nicely.
Only thing I wish is that Peugeot would make the panoramic roof a standard fit, rather than an option, but Nissan have also gone this way so I guess they know what they are doing.
One things for sure..... the 3008's styling knocks spots off the segments best selling Qashqai.

Poor design when the steering wheel blocks the instrument cluster

Go and have a look at the new car. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
And the switchgear is a total re-design.
Even I can work the heating, stereo and SatNav now....

But it doesn't block it in this model. It did in some of the other models, but not this one.

Then they need to push the design to the rest of the models as it was a major balls up from the design team. But then, when did the French think about design!! Best car I ever had was a 205 GTI but ever thing was back to front. Alternator need replacing?yes but we have to take the whole engine out to replace it!! French design is a right royal pain for car owners

Was probably the feedback from earlier models made them change it.
205gti was indeed a great car, 306 wasn't bad either.

With mine and my other halfs seating position both our BMW's steering wheel blocks the bottom of the instrument cluster display where the odometer and sat nav road details are displayed.

Have you adjusted the steering column? Mines spot on, arguably one of the best seating positions I've had in any motor that I've owned
