DPF Cleaning
Anybody had this done? Results? How much did you pay? I’m seeing prices of anywhere between £85 and £750 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7My 2011 diesel is on 161k miles and i’ve error code which means the DPF is “end of life”. Of course, it may have some life left, but it clogged at 160k and required some assistance shall we say to unclog it. We had;
DPF removed cleaned and refit for £350.
Then had to change the DPF regen atomiser for £400
Then had to change the differential pressure sensor for £200.
Even before the removal and clean my garage said we should just buy a new DPF from China, as he said cleaning never works 100%
Oh, and the £85 you are being quoted is probably just to squirt some DPF cleaner in and hope it kick starts a regen: useless. I had some success with the “pour in the tank” cleaner. But best success was had with a long hard motorway session. I need to pull the codes again this morning to see if regens are working again. If not then something else may be at fault. But it’s been good for over 600 miles now. What car? You need to ask?data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

2011 BMW 335d M57 engine M57N2 engine. Had an issue with my old 325D, the BMW place I used, had a nightmare getting it to regen. 1 sat in the passenger seat with the laptop connected to the OBD port, then the driver doing loops around a long section of national speed limit road.
Every time the dpf error came up, it had to be reset, it could take them an hour before the car would successfully do a regen.
For some reason BMW designed it, so that if there was an error code, the car wouldn't regen until it was cleared.
It lasted for a while and then came back.
Traded it in after the third time To be honest DPF replacement at 161k is not too bad. Citroen/Peugeot recommend a change at 130k, as do Ford on some engines Yeah, i think lifespan on BMW is 120-160k.I pulled the codes again yesterday and the level of soot had dropped to only 14g (IIRC) compared to over 50g before the autobahn sprint. Cleared the errors again and will see how i go this week. Booked in with a DPF specialist for DPF removal, testing / cleaning, refitting, DPF reset. They’ll have the car for two days.
£465 all in. Considerably cheaper than £2k for new one data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
