I no longer work for VW although I did for 14 years and have driven several arteons daily. The platform you refer to isn't the chassis as the chassis is completely different between a Golf R and an Arteon - it is not stretched. You refer to MQB which is a list of shared parts and our german friends call it a "platform" but this means something completely different to them to what you and I would think of.

The soundakor can be disconnected if you don't like it, it's not exactly intrusive though. You and your friend might think it sounds like a V8 but I don't think it sounds much like anything other than more engine noise. It certainly doesn't transform a V8 into a V8 in my view.

Obviously you have your opinion but as an owner for over a year, I can build an owners view and opinion.
If not that platform, is this a more "exclusive" platform and individual? Would that make it more special? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

It's certainly not as fast as his V8 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yes you could call it more exclusive, it has more in common with a Passat than a Golf but is the only VW branded non SUV to be able to accomodate 20" wheels thanks to the placement of the wheels at the far ends of the chassis. The designers were particularly proud of this as apparently it maintains ride comfort and also creates more space inside the car - which I would agree with. It is more expensive to make than a Golf or a Passat and was the first VW to carry the next generation of active cruise which costs quite a bit on the options list of more expensive vehicles.

It is the highest end MQB car available as competing Audi product is MLB which is longitudinal engine rather than transverse, although both systems borrow from the same MB platform or group of components for their drivetrain.

Gorgeous and stunning.

What engine has it?

outoftheknow Publish time 24-11-2019 22:46:46

It says 3.0 SI on the side in very small letters and numbers. BMW don’t do many versions of the 3 litre do they? I assume you were looking for the whole engine naming version though data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

My gtr had big hips. The Arteon has big hips. This is ridiculously hippy!
