Assuming you're entitled to annual leave now and then - I booked 4 days off work, never ridden a bike in my life, started with the CBT on the Sunday, passed my Mod 2 on Thursday data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Then life got in the way and I had to wait 2 years before getting my first (and only) bike.

that was my plan!
My son getting chicken pox in March scuppered pretty much all my leave this year data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Yep, kids are rather inconsiderate like that data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I remember my daughter being very poorly with it when she was little. She was so tired that she fell asleep at the dinner table and rested her poor little pox-riddled head on the soft, doughy pizza that she was eating. We did what any responsible parents would do in this situation and put her in bed to rest...

...after we'd taken a photo of course data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Is he OK now?

Yeah its only chicken pox. 2 weeks and they are fine.3 year olds are resilient little buggers, id still be moaning about it.

Any joy with getting your license and bike yet?

Not yet mate.
I had 3 more lessons, but I was only getting time every few weeks.

I've decided to wait until spring and just take a weeks leave to do it 1 lump.

Hopefully the weather will be better.

I remember when I did my direct access course back in 2004, it was around this time of year and I had mixed conditions. Good experience though.

Know what you mean with the weather, especially if you haven’t had a lot of previous experience. I was able to split my DA course over two weekends then did the mod 1 on the Monday and the mod two the following week. Rain on my final test day was actually a plus, as the examiner made it clear to me to take extra care and keep well within the speed limits. My friend did his in the dry and failed as he was over hesitant and not keeping up with traffic.
