Only found this one photo scanned from a print; despite knowing I took loads around the same time. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 This shows the car as it was last time I had it on the road. It really isn't much different now apart from the dust, though the hole in the inner wing prevents it from getting an MOT at the moment (plus the other stuff that has suffered through lack of use like the brakes and exhaust).

Nice one-for any inspiration or advice/help get yourself over to Turbosport.co.uk-loads of RS's,mk1's & mk2's-plus loads of other fantastic projects. I'm doing a mk1 at the moment and had lots of help from the other forum members-what they dont know isnt worth knowing!! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Nice one. I used to own a red custom about 20 years agodata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I always prefered them in red myself, but I'd better keep it the original colour otherwise it'll never get back on the road: I changed the colour of a Mk3 Escort I had years back and I kept finding bits I'd missed. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I checked the tax disc and it is from October 1998, so it's nearly 11 years since I've driven it. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Strange place to find another TS member data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

KelvinS: Very nice car! Are you keeping the pinto? Good luck with the resto.

KelvinS1965 Publish time 24-11-2019 22:28:10

Thanks to both, I went on the TS site and I think I'll join there too. I'll be so busy posting on here, TS, RSOC and RS Escorts sites I won't have time to do any work. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I'm keeping the Pinto...in fact bar the inner wings welding it's not so much a restoration as a 'freshen up'. I could improve the car beyond where it is now, but as it is unrestored (bar a respray in 1985) I think it will still be a nice car again. It'll never be a concourse car as it has a pop up sunroof and I really can't be bothered trying to reskin the roof. It's a period accessory anyway and I'm so used to aircon on my daily driver that I think I'll need the fresh air it gives. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Same for the door cards; I'd like a set without holes, but probably missed the boat on that years ago (unless someone knows differently) or maybe I could buy reproduction ones if they are available?

You could always fit a webasto, that's what the chap done who bought my MK1 RS2000 (also had a pop out roof), and it's now one of the best around.I still regret selling it 13 years agodata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I nearly did that to an MGB GT that also had a pop up roof, but even a Webasto was never an option on the RS, so the concours boys still wouldn't like it. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Not that I'm that bothered as I like having a sunroof myself. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
