Extremely overrated and doesn't have a single thing to do with the movies

The entire story was planned to revolve around a character that has not a single thing to do with the movie franchise. This character with a very unViking name, Heather (yes, that is the character's actual name, believe it or not) and a very unViking and non-Nordic appearance, is forced down our throats at every possible opportunity. Even Heather's voice sounds extremely cheesy, fake and out of place. This character does simply not belong in this world. She sounds, looks and acts like a typical "insert" character.

The first season builds up to Heather's infamous and over-dramatic introduction. Forget about the canon characters. It's not important to show how they developed or give them any valuable role in the plot. It's more important to show off a "Mary Sue" by have her copy all the canon characters and then have these characters act like Heather's personal cheerleaders.

Douglas Sloan and Art Brown make Dean DeBlois characters so obsessed with their precious little Heather it's almost unbearable to watch.

In the second season Heather the amazing and special acts as a spy for the riders. Her role is supposed to lure Viggo (the villain) out because how else could the canon characters have possibly found him. It's not like they managed to find Drago on their own or anything. Without the ever so precious Heather's help.

Heather is so completely useless that at the end of Maces and Talons part 1, she has to actively get herself captured by Viggo. She literally flies into the net Viggo shoots out, knowing full well she was going to be taken down. As bait she gets to stay relevant a little longer and play damsel distress so Hiccup come and save her just like he did in Have Dragon Will Travel, when she got herself captured on purpose back then too. This gives Douglas and Art the opportunity to make Hiccup obsessed with saving their precious OC.

At the end of the season, Heather takes off without a word after making the riders lose the dragon eye and gain nothing but another enemy. According to Douglas Sloan and Art Brown, this earns their "Mary Sue" a spot among the riders.

In the third season, it's time for Heather to become an official part of the gang, (even though she is not even an official character.) The entire third act itself is dedicated to make her seem like one of the canon characters. Only problem is.. Heather is not a real character. She is nothing but fanfiction OC, add on, insert character, Mary Sue, expendable.

Heather is NOT a part of the gang, but Doug and Art still try very hard to make her seem so, even if it's at the cost of other characters.

The third season also shows us how Heather is all around perfect. She can cook, she can draw maps, she can build things, she is as skilled of a fighter as Astrid is (despite only 3 years of experience against Astrid's 19 years,) she is as skilled of a dragon rider as the gang (despite only being a rider for a short time,) she is as intelligent as Fishlegs, she is as caring about dragons as Hiccup. On top of that, Heather can sing like a Disney princess! Tone Death was definitely written to show off Heather's many talents as well as to show off how amazing she is with babies and her motherly side. Because those things are so relevant to the franchise! Whatever flaws she possesses are all excused by her oh so "tragic" past, which she brings up as often as she can.

In the fourth season Heather continues to be a pest, annoyance and an intruder. We have to pretend she is a dragon rider like the rest even though she is nothing but a fake. She will always stick out as a sore thumb. The gang is more than complete without her. Heather was just added to undermine the other riders with her special snowflake status.

This show is under no circumstance canon material. Adding in some lame and unnecessary details such as the origin of Hiccup's flight suit or flame sword makes no difference. Ignoring Hiccup and Astrid's relationship for almost four seasons by having Hiccup obsess over their precious Mary Sue instead and then spoon feeding the desperate shippers with kisses in the last three episodes to shut them up is not the way to go. This doesn't make Race to the Edge canon. What would have made it canon was if it had respected the movie's characters and focused on actually bridging the movies instead of wasting itself on an obnoxious Mary Sue.

Race to the Edge is nothing but professional fanfiction.
