Anyone for Snooker

Couldn't even see a snooker thread!

Anyway, one of the biggest shocks in sporting history?

James Cahill just put O'Sullivan out by 10 - 8

Quite unbelievable. Ronnie looked out of sorts, but nothing should be taken away from Cahill. He didn't crack, especially when Ronnie pulled it back to 8-8.

Could tell Ronnie looked tired and was struggling

Cahill fully deserved the win though, thought he’d messed up when he missed a pretty easy red!

Hope the kid can go on and cause a few more upsets

I have a feeling he'll get knocked out next round...

Dunno what was up with Ronnie. He actually does look ill, but seemed to downplay it somewhat. He's had so much time off to compared to the others.

I agree with Davis when he said Hendry's record was safe. Back when Ronnie won it last (was it 2012 or 13?), I thought he'd beat the 7 no problem. Don't think it's going to happen now. Maybe one more in him to get to 6 and equal Davis, but can't see any more than that. He's getting too old, and there's too many good young players coming up. Very difficult to win it now I think. Tough matches straight from the off, and it's a hell of a 2 week stretch.

Think the year I knew he wouldn’t beat it was when he made the final to win the third world champ in a row but he lost it?

Great match now between Allen and Zhou

Allen started this afternoon 7-2 down, went 9-2 down, and now pulled it back to 9-7

Fantastic semi final today and such a shame if Gilbert loses because of a kick.

Very fine margins.

Just caught up with the semi. What a result for Higgins. The game's greatest ever battler I'd say. No right to win that match really.

Feel for Gilbert. Hopefully he'll be back and not a flash in the pan here.

Not Trump's biggest fan, so I'll be rooting for John tomorrow and Monday.

Been a great championships from what I've watched. Wilson and Gilbert were a breath of fresh air. Especially Gilbert, a fringe player for his career, almost gave up the sport. Incredible performance. An amazing story.

That said, he should have beaten Higgins. Yesterdays evening session was probably the worst I've ever seen him play. Another remarkable comeback from the Wizard. 3 consecutive finals is nothing to be sniffed at especially 43 years of age.

I finished work at 6pm as Higgins and Gilbert were in the safety battle in the last frame. I set up the phone cradle in the car and streamed the rest of the match, gotta love a final frame decider.

Not actually watched Trump much this tournament. But going by the scorelines, he's a steamroller out there, playing with confidence, potting long balls, winning frames in one visit. Think Higgins might get a thrashing.

Trump just turned into the terminator in that evening session.

Snooker from the gods. Higgins 9 - 16 down but still with 90%pot success. He ain't playing badly. Trump is just playing the best snooker of his life.

Backed trump before tournament started at 4/1

However did cover the bet on Sat by putting money on Higgins as well just in case, looks like that was a waste lol but oh well
