When is a wizard not a wizard?

When the wizard is Harry Dresden in the Dresden Files.

I have not read the books, but I have watched all of the episodes, yet I still feel like I walked in on the middle of it. We need more set-up for the characters.

I think I have seen Dresden do minor magic maybe three or four times. I have not been counting, but I would expect a show that bills itself to be about a wizard, to actually do more "wizardly" stuff. So far, it seems to be a watered down version of Charmed or Buffy.

I'll give it a few more tries, but if they don't improve, I will be tuning in my crystal ball to another channel.
