my opinion: will end up as one of the best french films ever made ;)
This is a movie I would recommend to each and every one of you. It's good because even if you you're not able to laugh with what they say or do ( because you don't understand or because you lack that sort of humor) you will at least smile.You can't just not smile or laugh with the movie because it is so natural, there's no forced humor nor shallow characters. You live with the people, laugh with their mistakes and manners. Not because they're are ridiculous but because you find yourself confronted with the " clichés" you formed about the persons and then discover ( in a very humoristic way) how wrong you were.
Personally, I loved it because the humor was simple, something i would see myself end up doing. You don't have the impression to see actors who memorized their script without really knowing what they're talking about. Which would be weird since the actors are mostly all from that area. Just know that when you go see the movie, you don't go for the line of the story ( man from south goes north. doesn't understand. and finally Loves it there. ) You go for the heart of the story, the exchanges between the people, the subtleties of the language and the fine humor of people who are mocking themselves in a good way. Whoever didn't understand that part of the story ( my opinion) should just keep watching senseless American movie with the cliché dialog where you can anticipate the end. Guess it can be relaxing but is it enough?
Bravo Danny Boon. you succeeded in putting your love for your country in the movie without making it look fade in front of the audience.
