A poor excuse for fight scenes. Done with monsterverse.
This was just a poor excuse for those fight scenes. They just wanted some or the other reason for Kong and Godzilla to fight.Ancient rivalry? What ancient rivalry? They don't bother to explain.
In any movie where two favorite heroes of the audience end up fighting, the movie eventually brings up some new adversary. Same here. It was as expected.
The awe I felt while seeing Godzilla in Godzilla (2014) or the awe I felt while seeing Kong in King Kong (2005) is not seen here. At times it resembled very much like Pacific Rim. Too many action scenes. Not enough plot to get me invested in any of the characters. Be it humans or monsters. Some so-called comic relief which neither gave me comic moments nor relief from the boredom of watching random fight scenes.
The audience seem to like it. The success of Kong Skull Island and Godzilla: King of the Monsters seem to confirm it.
At this point they may even end up joining together some random fight scenes between some random monster creatures and call it a movie.
I'm totally done watchin the MonsterVerse.
