Harrowing but thoughtful!
Plenty of difficult subject matter (and some pretty viscerally affecting violence), but the approach never feels lurid or exploitative. Instead, the little touches in writing, directing, and (especially) acting, combine for an artful and intelligent treatment of challenging (also timely and pressing!) themes. An effective balance of arthouse and grindhouse sensibilities. I'm very eager to see what these filmmakers do next!score 8/10
