Every (White) Cop should watch this as part of their training
A brilliant movie, can you believe it was 2017 given the 2019 & 2020 issues especially "I can't breathe" part in the film. This is a great drama and is a work of art, it also gets your blood up to a boiling temperature in certain scenes and your legs or shoulders tapping...
This is also not a film for white people or black people - but for all people, my title of the review is because of the depth of issues tackled in a clever and intelligent way , utilising violence in a very strategic way to get the point to hit home..
Spoiler alert:
Whilst you have to wait until the end when he gives the reason why his a cop and what he does, which gives his view point and perspective of why he's helping save lives , yet whilst doing so also is seen by any "black" person in the community as someone who doesn't care - which makes him a bigger hero as he's not doing it to be liked , but to stop white officers potentially killing a black suspect.
The turning point is great too and he shows through the film how anyone can abuse profiling and throw their weight around, bullying the public and hiding behind the badge.
This film should be shown in the police academy and also all police with years of service should watch this film - on their own at home and then be asked to right a 500 word evaluation/ review and include recommendations on what CC hanged they would implement in their local force to improve policing in the community...
I know the above review seems boring and it doesn't really do the film justice - I would say watch the film it's brilliant.
score 9/10
