A genre-mashing delight
"Brisco County, Jr." was another show killed off before its time, and really does epitomize the cult classic; but it's gotta be one of the most inspired series, especially, from the early '90s. It had a real knack for playing with Western convention, and always had futuristic gimmicks around for a laugh. It was a great cast, playing a wide array of memorable characters, and the writing was also a contributing factor: that big arc with the orb really swung for the fences. But a big part of its appeal (huge!) was Bruce Campbell - in full leading-man mode. He was the real heart of the show's likability, always walking into a situation with an open mind and ready to flex his action hero muscle. If there was any question as to his ability to transcend the role of Ash in the "Evil Dead" movies, this is absolutely it.
