Hollywood Take Notes, They Did It Right!

It took two people to hear the cries of fans all over the world to give us what we expected in a live action Street Fighter series. I have said it for years that it should not be that hard to give gamers what they expect in a gaming movie or series, but for years there have been nothing but disappointments, well not all. However, there was a shining light of hope through Joey Ansah and Christian Howard who decided it was that time to make a dream come true. Street Fighter Assassin's Fist debut on May 23rd on youtube giving us the story of Ken and Ryu on their path to becoming warriors. Take this journey with me as I did video review (spoiler free) Of Street Fighter Assassin's Fist.

The things I liked:

EVERY FREAKING THING! The cameos of Ono was a great treat and showing great support. The fact that they kept both English and Japanese settings so well done. The characters themselves fit their roles so well and the ambitions leading to the dramatic battle between Ken (Christian Howard) and Ryu (Mike Moh) was fantastic. The 80′s theme was a nice touch, because I didn't think they were going to go that route with it. It was pure nostalgia all around.

Going back into the past between the brother rivalry Gouki (Gaku Space) and Gouken (Akira Koieyama) pulled on my heart strings, especially the love triangle with Sayaka (Hyunri Lee) that was happening. I have to agree with Seph_Dean on the transformation of Gouki to Akuma (Joey Ansah) had me at a lose for words. But that is not even the epic part, but you need to see it for yourself.

The fight choreograph was spot on and not campy at all. They made it very believable to perform the non-projectile moves like the tatsumaki senpuu kyaku (Hurricane Kick) and of course Ken's mastered (see what I did there) Shoryuken (Dragon Punch). It was amazing.

The Things I didn't like:

To be far I felt Ken was too much of a brat vs. being more of the prankster or joking brother to RYU. There were times where I even assumed his attitude would lead him on a bad path, but I was glad I was wrong. Some of the acting was a bit stale at times, but frankly speaking it was still enjoyable. Thats about it, nothing else, we can move on.

All around it is a 5 out of 5 and Hollywood, step up your game because the technology is available to us all to do a better job than you could! This is proof that if you give fans what they expect in a gaming movie, you get massive results. I hope you enjoyed this review and check out all episodes of Street Fighter Assassin's Fist right now on Youtube. Stay frosty fighters!
