Evil Bestows Evil
Wow, what an all-over-the-place "horror" film. Poor Freddy. I see the director was trying to cash in on the cash-grab 976 numbers of the 80s, but failed to tell a coherent story. There is so much going on here, but the basics involve a bullied boy ("Evil" from my favorite vampire flick, Fright Night) gets revenge by calling an evil number as the title portrays.
In this film, there are no real stakes, no true protagonist, mixed rules and stereotypical villains. SO many characters are introduced, you never know who's who, where they are, who they belong to and why they're crucial to the story.
Also, I'm a poker player and there seems to be a poker game from beginning to end. Not sure why it's here, but at least someone else loves poker.
I spent $2.99 on this rental. Don't make the same mistake. I doubt this even made that much in returns - even though a sequel was made!! Egad.
