Nice little show
'Doug Unplugs' is based on a picture book of the same name by Dan Yaccarino. I know that he's the creator of Oswald the Octopus, one of my favorite childhood shows. I didn't know about the existence of the Doug Unplugs book because I'm not really in the kids' picture book scene (apart from old picture books from my childhood). But this show was a pleasant surprise.Robots are made to do things you tell them to do. But Doug, our young robot hero, decides to forge his own path, and befriends a human girl named Emma. They go on fun adventures and Doug learns how to be human in the process.
The show is about learning new things and breaking outside a rigid mold forced onto you by society. While the other robots conform to their strict society, Doug is a bit of a rebel of sorts because he dares to unplug and experience the human world in real time.
The show is pretty cute and a fun watch for small children. The songs they have in each episode are decent for explaining basic topics to kids. I think the characters can get generic at times though.
