Good stuff -Way more then just food
Kudos to Vivian for taking baby steps towards trying to undrstand the real heritage and history of "american" food in the south. Which means a successful white chef having uncomfortable but neccessary conversations with black chefs and cooks about southern/soul food and the genesis of that in slavery and west african culture. And dancing delicately around the meaning of appropriation. And all the wild discomfort that entails. She is very brave. We need more courage like this. Porridge for the Soul was a particular standout. I could watch a whole series with the personalities highlighted in that episode. For real, that episode made me cry multiple times. Vivians awkwardness is my awkwardness and it is inspiring to see her fight through and have these conversations. It is difficult on both sides and she really showed that.score 9/10
