A perfectly enjoyable slice of kitschy 80's soft-core Eurotrash

Naïve and virginal young lass Gwendoline (luscious redhead knockout Tawny Kitaen) hires roguish soldier of fortune Willard (hunky Brent Huff) to take her and loyal gal pal Beth (a delightfully bubbly portrayal by fetching brunette Zabou) into a dangerous jungle in order to find Gwendoline's missing father and capture a rare butterfly. Things go awry after our intrepid group stumble across a legendary tribe of Amazonian warrior women who reside in a fabled underground city.

Writer/director Just Jaecklin keeps the entertainingly inane story moving along at a brisk pace, maintains an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone throughout, makes the picturesque most out of the breathtaking exotic locations, and delivers oodles of delectable distaff nudity as well as a stunning array of hot babes in kinky (and skimpy) leather S&M fetish outfits. Bernadette Lafont camps it up with lip-smacking gusto as the evil queen while Jean Rougerie contributes a hilarious turn as the queen's cowardly and obsequious toady D'Arcy. Kitaen projects a winningly sweet and sensuous innocence as our titular heroine -- and seriously sizzles sans clothes. Andre Domage's glossy widescreen cinematography provides a sumptuous visual sheen. Pierre Bachelet's pulsating and syncopated score does the funky-throbbing trick. Good silly'n'sexy fun.

score 8/10
