A wonderfully theatrical film
I rented this movie last year, and just watched it again on pay TV. It is one of those gems that is so enjoyable to watch that a 2nd or 3rd viewing is great as you can pick up those bits of quirky humor. This film is rich in character. The writer/director gives us time to be introduced to each character and watch them develop as the film takes us on this great journey through a particular time in family life.
This is the first flick I'd seen with Piper Laurie since "Carrie" and her droll comedy was perfect. Even Ray Romano just blended into the bizarre dysfunctional - but very familiar - family.
Take a chance. Enjoy.
