It was needed a twice watching to certify my early feelings when l'd saw this picture in 2010, to make sure my first rate, l've must to see it again in hope maybe l should be wrong, a Scott-Brown partnership B-movie gave us an unusual storyline that just few western delivered, after ambushes a wagon of the Union gold escorted by cavalry, then the Southern Army knew that the war already was over a month ago, too late, so they are pursued by a bunch of the pretenders lawmen, after takes a ride in the stagecoach where traveled just two passengers, a nurse and a man, they reach at wagon station and quickly covered inside, so all characters were introduced themselves under such roof, a psychological approach was ongoing, everyone has their ghost to hide, slowly arises the whole truth, The Major (Scott) explains why he attacks the Union army killed all them, the old Couple who lives as the keeper at wagon station a father and his daughter who lost in the war her husband and now her unique son, the others southern soldier are friendly, but the rough soldier played by Lee Marvin has a bad behavior on beauty nurse, the youngest soldier ( Jarman Jr.) who never kill a single man faces his destiny killing for first time, the bitters feelings spreading in the air, suddenly the rain comes, the final scene is touching, when the widow and his old father invited the youngest soldier that shall be back soon, to live there as their stepson and grandson, a upper western supposedly done as B-movie, nevertheless with strong elements as classy western!!!Resume:
