Got It All
What's amazing about this show, is that you can hardly name the topic. It's a thriller, obviously, but it focuses on the investigation as much as on the characters lives, their relationships and their development. The "drama- part" of the show is mainly about Philip and Lukas, two boys, who happen to be eyewitnesses to a triple-homicide, but don't tell anybody, because they don't want them to know they were together that night. In fact it's a heartbreaking love relationship, and the topic of gay love, coming-out, and (the fear of) homophobia is treated in a very sensitive and honest way. Then there's Helen, the cop investigating in the murder-case. She is Philips foster-mother and appears to have a troubled past herself. She is struggling with creating a family bond, and keeping Philip and her husband close to her, while being totally obsessed with the case. The "crime-part" of Eyewitness is very interesting, since we get to see the point of view from the witnesses (who later possibly become victims), keeping what they saw a secret, the police, trying to solve the case, and the murderer, covering up his tracks. We know who the murderer is, right from the beginning, but it does not ever get boring. On the contrary, it creates a certain tension and makes you wanna shout at the television. So all in all, Eyewitness is a very extraordinary show, with deep characters, an excellent soundtrack, and a new twist every episode. Very recommendable!score 9/10
