A Korean Magical Realist Cop Show
I've become a fan of Korean TV over the last year, and this is the best show I've seen. It's a police procedural, two love stories, a cop buddy bromance, and a serial killer cat and mouse whodunnit. It avoids most of the Korean TV tropes that seem silly to western eyes, like six camera angles and a slow motion playback when the romantic leads finally get together, and delivers a great, complex story that unfolds over 16 hours. The character arcs are allowed to develop naturally and the pay off at the end is absolutely earned. The secondary characters in the police squad are the only ones who don't get their due, and it would have been so easy to fill them in a bit, but compared to everything else that's a small quibble. Can't recommend it highly enough.score 10/10
