What Is It With The French?
Warning: Major Spoilers!Another miniseries with a town full of lying, immoral, thieving, murdering citizens. But you can add incompetent police to the list. The police force in this village is beyond unbelievable.
The major area of disbelief is a police captain who allows an officer to remain on a case involving a serial killer. Case in point;
Never mind the fact that the officer's adopted daughter is missing and presumed kidnapped.
Never mind the fact that the officer's husband had an affair with a 16-year-old girl who was murdered by said killer.
Never mind the fact that the murdered girl he had an affair with was his adopted daughter's best friend.
Never mind the fact that the female officer acts unprofessionally while searching for her daughter, threatening suspects and ranting and raving when not in tears. When Officer Musso once again oversteps her authority, the captain threatens her with "Another move like that and you're off the case...you shouldn't be on it to begin with." Ya think? When one of the characters life is in danger, the captain says "We'll post a patrol at your home." Then when she is kidnapped and nearly burned to death he says "We'll post a patrol at your home." I'm sure that made her feel safe.
A few more samples of incompetence by the cops. When two young brothers are brought in for questioning as potential witnesses, they are questioned together. Not only that, the police leave them alone in a room by themselves so they have plenty of time to get their stories straight. Then the suspect stands at the edge of a cliff, ready to jump when an officer tackles him...why they didn't both end up soaring off the cliff is an unanswered question. And when the same suspect needs to go to the head, he grabs the officer's gun who's accompanying him and...well, you can guess what happens.
The main character, Officer Musso is an unsympathetic character; a mean, ornery woman. It's no wonder her hubby strayed! I am giving the series four stars rather than one because it DOES entertain...if you can overlook the implausibilities.
